Hatfield Marine Science Center – Paid Summer Internships (Oregon)
The program runs from 07/18 – 08/24/19 at the Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC) in Newport and at the College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS) in Corvallis. Out-of-state travel, on-site housing a student stipend ($6000) are provided. Application opens 01/01/19.

US Department of Energy (DOE) 10-week Internships
The Community College Internship (CCI) program provides paid internships at 15 participating DOE labs. Apply by 01/10/19 for Summer 2019.

NIH Community College Summer Enrichment Program (CCSEP)
The National Institutes of Health offers this program each summer to increase the number of community college students who participate in the NIH Summer Internship Program (SIP) with the long-term goal of increasing the number of students who transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Apply by 01/11/19 for Summer 2019.

Preparation for Graduate and Medical Education (Alabama)
This 8-week paid summer program runs from 05/31 – 07/26/19 and allows students to work with University of Alabama at Birmingham faculty on mentored research projects and participate in clinical experiences.  PARAdiGM students will receive a stipend of $3,200 for their participation in the program and campus housing. Apply by 02/15/19 for Summer 2019.

Summer in Biomedical Sciences (SIBS) – Paid Research Internship (Alabama)
SIBS Undergraduate Research Program will provide the opportunity for young people to be instructed in the techniques of modern biology while becoming integrated members of a vibrant clinical and scientific community. Program runs 05/31 – 07/26/19 and includes a $2,500 stipend and campus housing. Apply by 02/15/19 for Summer 2019.

Undergraduate Research Experience – Project RAISE
Selected students will gain first-hand experience in scientific investigation in a dynamic, collaborative research environment at CSUF. A $5000 stipend will be provided. The program runs from June 17 – August 09, 2019. Apply by 02/28/18 for Summer 2019.

Summer Program in Neuroscience (SPIN) – Paid Research Internship (Alabama)
SPIN is a NSF-sponsored Research Experience for Undergraduates that provides undergraduates a research experience in discovery neuroscience. SPIN also includes  an intensive professional development program. The program runs 06/03 – 08/09/19. Apply by 03/01/19 for Summer 2019.

Summer Bridge to the Beach at CSULB
Paid internship for students transferring to CSULB in Fall 2019. Receive hands-on research experience and receive a $5,000 scholarship stipend. The program runs from June 10 – August 09, 2019. Apply by 03/31/18 for Summer 2019.

STEMSEAS – Student Experience Aboard Ships
Providing transformative experiences at sea to expand the number and diversity of students in geoscience, and to promote geoscience literacy. The 2019 schedule should be posted soon. Follow them on Facebook.

National Science Foundation – Research Experience for Undergraduates (NSF-REU)
The REU program is a paid 10-week internship program with thousands of opportunities both in the US and abroad. Search under the area of research you are interested in and you will find locations offering an REU program with application requirements. Applications typically open near the end of the year. 

US Geological Survey (USGS) Interships
The USGS hires ~1,000 students each year to assist with science research and support through various internships. Research topics include but aren’t limited to biology, ecosystems, climate change, energy and minerals, environmental health, planetary science, and more. Search for internships through USAJOBS.

Orange County Internships
Various internships are offered by the County of Orange on an ongoing basis.

Edison International Engineering Internships
Various internships in engineering offered by Edison International on an ongoing basis.

NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars Program (NCAS)
NCAS gives community college STEM students an authentic NASA experience and encourages them to finish a 2-year degree or transfer to a 4-year university to pursue a NASA-related field or career. Apply by 10/17/18 for Spring/Summer 2019.

ESURI Research Internships at Fullerton College (Summer 2018)
The Earth Science Undergraduate Research Initiative is offering a paid summer internship studying marine debris on local beaches. Apply by 05/15/18 at the link above or check out their flier for more info.

Bridges to the Baccalaureate (Biomedical Research Internships) at UCI

UC Irvine Pre-Health Conference (11/03/18)
The conference will provide attendees with information on how to achieve success and how to support one another on the difficult path to a health profession.

The Center for Applied Biotechnology Studies (CABS) Conference at CSUF (11/09/18)
Breakfast will be served in the morning, followed by speakers and poster presentations by students during lunch. It is a great opportunity for students to network and present their work. Registration is free but limited to 100 spots so register soon!

SoCal American Society for Microbiology (SCASM) Fall Conference (10/27/18)
Attend career sessions, poster sessions, interesting lectures, interactive exhibits, and networking events at the 82nd annual meeting of SCASM in San Diego. Funding may be available for interested students. Contact Dr. Lazarus at llazarus@fullcoll.edu. Registration ends 10/27/18.

2018 American Chemical Society Western Regional Meeting at Cal Tech (10/27/18)

CC2PhD Multidisciplinary Undergrad Research Conference at UCLA (05/26/18)
This conference will feature “in progress” and completed research presentations from California community college students and transfer students in all disciplines (i.e. arts, humanities, social sciences, and STEM). This conference strives to be inclusive and welcoming. No prior research experience is expected. Proposals are due by 04/30/18 at 11:59pm. Check out this flier for more info.

Medicina Para Todos: Promoting Health Equity Through Education (04/28/18)
Chicanos/Latinos for Community Medicine (CCM) presents its pre-health conference, geared toward community college and high school students who may be interested in going into the healthcare field. Some workshops available are: how to network with others, suturing, a nursing panel, and a medical student panel. Additionally, doctors, nurses, and professors speaking about vital information that is extremely useful and inspiring for students. Everyone is welcome. CSUF Gets Wild – Benefit for Newport Bay Conservancy (04/10/18 6pm-9pm)
Help raise funds to support ongoing environmental and educational projects. Only $5 to enjoy food, lip sync battles, karaoke and more at the CSUF Golleher Alumni House. Bring one of these items to donate and admission is only $3.
